Touch things only once

Successful people touch things only once…

How many times have you opened an email and then closed it again only to deal with it again later?  How many times do you review paperwork that comes across your desk by taking a quick glance and then putting it back down

Highly successful people touch things only once. They action the email, send the request, follow up on the action… they deal with it right then and there and only once. This reduces stress because we don’t feel overwhelmed by all of those emails in our incoming email folder, we don’t forget to action things or lose important information.

The basic idea behind “touch it once” is that whenever you get an incoming task in front of you, you decide right away what to do with it.

By touching things only once we become more efficient and effective at working on the things that really matter.
