How many employers rely on a single interview lasting little more than an hour to make a decision to appoint a candidate to a role? There is so much at stake and yet it is readily accepted that this one off interview is enough time to determine skills, experience, personality and job fit.
As an employer don’t feel pressured to appoint a candidate after one interview, take your time in making your decision and follow up with a less formal interview or presentation where the candidate can be assessed in an alternative environment. Don’t rush in, take your time and update your candidates every step of the way – communication is the key to ensuring a well managed recruitment process.
If you have your doubts don’t appoint second best, it is worth waiting for the right fit – your success depends on it.
